Quebec has always been at the heart of the Canadian federation, although its political clout appears to be waning in light of economic strains and the continuing divisive debates over nationhood. Nelson Peters has been keeping an Eye On Quebec ever since he started covering the student demonstrations and subsequent election for Troy Media in the summer of 2012. A native of Manitoba, Nelson has spent the last 5 years in Quebec as a law student at Universite Laval, where he served as Editor-in-chief for the faculty student law review. Keenly interested in issues related to federalism, law, politics, and culture, Nelson is also passionate about the arts, having published a novel and a collection of short stories, with a second novel in the works.
Sandy White is a former advisor to Conservative Member of Parliament Christian Paradis and is currently studying law at Laval University in Quebec City.
Hugo Mathieu is a Political Science and Law school graduate, a former Liberal party of Canada riding President and Vice-President for the Association des Ã‰tudiants en Droit de l’Universite Laval.
Pierre Fournier-Simard is a enthusiastic festival-goer in the summer who enjoys playing hockey in Montreal’s numerous outdoor rinks during the winter. The rest of the time, he practices corporate law.
